Question:
Writers, when you see a typo made on the pc, do you look down at your keyboard to check for the reason?

I have this obsessive habit, that when I see someone else make a typo (misspelling), I look down at my keyboard to check to see how close the letter they either missed, or added is to the letter they should have used, so I can tell if the person who made it, did it by accident, or because they didn't know how to spell the word.
I am no saint, believe me, but just curious to know if I'm the only one with this habit.
LOL, thanks!

Yes. I am a published author of poetry, and I get really upset if I make a typo I can't fix!

Sometimes, yes. Dreadful habit, especially for touch typists.

I do find typos a bit distracting, but errors in usage all but set my teeth on edge. This especially applies to arrogant posters attempting to put down other posters. Example: "I think what your saying is stupid and your stupid to!"

Ack! Please pass the Oil of Cloves. ;-)

Blatant errors I get annoyed by, small typos don't irk me. No one is perfect and frankly, I think your habit is a little psychotic. I am probably one of the fussiest people I know when it comes to spelling and/or typos but I tend to let a lot of things slide unless it's really bad.

And you; my dear, have a typo in your post:

"Yes. I am a published author of poetry, and I get really upset if I make a typo I can't fix!"

Should be:

"Yes, I am a published author of poetry and I get really upset if I make a typo I can't fix!"

Just sayin'...

EDIT:

And I got two thumbs down for that...why now? Wow. Uptight people today apparently.

EDIT 2:

Really now people, she ASKED for opinions and I gave it to her. I wasn't being mean or judgmental, just pointing out the irony. And yet you uptight weasels gave me THREE thumbs down. Hey, I'm a writer too and all the usual irks me too but I don't go so far as staring down at a keyboard to question the person who wrote it.

It's one thing to accidentally misuse a word. It's another when they're clearly illiterate or lazy. But I sure as hell wouldn't be fussy enough to worry about WHY or HOW they made the mistake. Damn. Get a grip.

Um....this is a very weird question, so my answer may be strange as well...

I don't look down at the keyboard to type... if I do, I will not type anything correctly. I have to type by touch. I can type 100 wpm, too!

hah yeah, i do! sorta...subconcious reaction. only, i've done that so many times now i don't need to for some typos...i know the groups of letters like 'iop' are close, and 'asd', and 'wer'. i am hopeless when i see bad sp/grammar. if it's my friends i end up correcting them, and then they get fed up.

Oh yes, all the time. I think it's the natural way of human beings to try and analyze their mistakes. You'r e a poet? That sounds fascinating. Will you please become my contact? I'll love to be a poet when i grow up...lol my dad would not be happy about that.

I am the worst at typing so I make the records on it I wish I could just write long hand.

I'm not published, and congratulations on your success, but, yes, I do the same thing.

I frequently make typos, because my fingers stutter. ;-)

Can't quite figure out why you can't fix typos...there's the backspace key and the delete key, what about spell checker.
