Oh Lord,
My God,
is there no help for the widow's son?
is there hope when the day is done?

Oh Lord,
My God,
where can this sinner run?
where can he hide from sun?

Oh Lord,
My God,
is there no help for the widow's son?
Lord, my God, may your will be done.

I live in hope.

Why is it people who are just learning the language can write such beautiful stuff, while apparently highly literate folks can't?

I liked this for its simplicity, for the desperate search for redemption and the final acceptance. I don't think he was being sent to hell or some such nor that he committed a great sin; I just think he was frightened and confused and perhaps, (since his mother had died) lost - not knowing what direction to take. He finally puts the decision into the Hands of the Almighty, and I think that's your real message. Nice, succinct and yet thought-provoking.

I am left wondering what his sin was. His fate has clearly been placed in the Lord's hands and he can only hope for mercy. A little puzzler for my tired 2:00 a.m. mind, but a pleasure nonetheless.

It is a good poem. It paints a vague picture of what could have happened though. It makes sense but could use a bit more detail. I like the overall thought and idea for it.
