I see bright lights pouring out at every tip of your being,

Just like the stars at the very depths of the vast sky,

There to look at but wouldn’t dare to dream of reaching out to them,

Futile, it seems, but to be mesmerize by your presence

Cleanses and rejuvenates a rusting wonder

That seems to get lost when it’s just a little too windy outside,

The density clings to me,

Far I stay,

Don’t come near me,

Or your shine will dull,

Certain things are better left far apart,

For to end in collision would be far worse than oblivion

I think it's the speaker's knowledge that when the one admired is seen too closely, the admiration dims because of the nearness and the availability. To touch a star is sweet ascent; the fall after takes forever. But to hang on makes it just an anchor.

Well I think the poet thinks.. he's found a diamond among the hay

but in reality the diamond is just a peace of old glass glittering in the sun

he' says 'Don't come near me Or your shine will dull,

when really the poet is dreaming of lying in bed , with his love were in his arms ...

It's like a Painting with no paint

cos we don't no who this poem is for

it would of been a lot more interesting if we new ...

I think it's about the speaker admiring someone very much, but feels inadequate in comparison. The speaker lacks self-confidence and feels s/he would be a bad influence on this person. It could also be taken in a romantic context.

Just as a side note, I really like the imagery used in the poem. Who's it by?

a happy inadequacy. an oxymoron that spells out desperation, yet elation at the same time. the feeling, no the knowing, that you will never be good enough. the realization, that you are just a human being admiring an angel.

It is about someone who is obsessed with another.

Their low self esteem imprisons them.

Inside they feel they are not worthy of the other's affection.
