It's my Grandad's funeral tomorrow and I am doing a reading. My mum gave me this to read, I think it is very nice.

I honestly think that when things like this happen, it gives you the feelings that you need to actually be able to write one yourself. I have been writing for years, but my best ones come from times of stong emotions. I have a favorite that I dont know where it came from. I found it when my brother died in 1997.

If tears could build a stairway

and memories a lane

I would walk right up to Heaven

and bring you back again

No farewell words were spoken

no time to say goodbye

You were gone before I knew it

and only God knows why

My heart still aches with sadness

and secret tears still flow

What it meant to love you

No one can ever know

But now I know you want me

to mourn for you no more

To remember all the happy times

life still has much in store

Since youll never be forgotten

I pledge to you today

A hallowed place within my heart

is where youll always stay

My Papa Passed Away On Sunday And as a tribute to him me and my cousins (who were very close to him) made him a bebo page at bebo.com x Hope this helps you with your queries please reply x

Goodbye Gramps

Today something happened that I thought never would.

I wish it could be undone, oh, if it only could.

I realize the memories I've made will be all there is.

My grandfather's memories, mine and his.

See, my grandfather passed away today and will never be back.

And now it's moments with him that I will sadly lack.

He won't be here to see me get my license or my car.

See me go to prom or graduate, because he is so far.

But I guess he's in a better place.

He resides in Heaven, and is surrounded by God's grace.

Now he can watch over me throughout the night and day.

And I can pretend that he's not really away.

He can stay with me in a place inside my heart.

And of me, he can still be a part.

This is what was on one of best friends card:

To Those I Love and to Those Who Love Me

"When I am gone release me, let me go

I have so many things to see and do.

You mustn't tie yourself with tears.

Be Happy that we had so many years.

I gave you my love, you can only guess

How much you gave me in happiness.

I thank you for the love you each have shared,

But, now it's time I traveled on alone.

So grieve for me if you must

Then let your grief be comforted by trust.

It is only for a while that we must part

So bless the memories within your heart.

I won't be far away, for life goes on.

Though you cannot see or touch me

I will be near and if you listen with

your heart you will hear

All of my love around you soft and clear.

And then, when you must come this way alone,

I will greet you with a smile

And welcome you home."

Who can say for certain

Maybe youre still here

I feel you all around me

Your memories so clear

Deep in the stillness

I can hear you speak

Youre still an inspiration

Can it be (? )

That you are mine

Forever love

And you are watching over me from up above

Fly me up to where you are

Beyond the distant star

I wish upon tonight

To see you smile

If only for awhile to know youre there

A breath aways not far

To where you are

Are you gently sleeping

Here inside my dream

And isnt faith believing

All power cant be seen

As

my heart holds you

Just one beat away

I cherish all you gave me everyday

cause you are mine

Forever love

Watching me from up above

And I believe

That angels breathe

And that love will live on and never leave

Fly me up

To where you are

Beyond the distant star

I wish upon tonight

To see you smile

If only for awhile

To know youre there

A breath aways not far

To where you are

I know youre there

A breath aways not far

To where you are

This is a song from Josh Groban, To Where You Are,

You have to listen to the song, it is so beautiful and especially meaningful if you have lost someone

I'm so sorry to hear of the death of Grandad and it is obvious that you loved him dearly so why don't you compose your own wee poem something that will remind you of him long after poems of others have been forgotten. Why not think of the things you used to love and do together perhaps something simple like helping him with his garden and planting flowers.

Make it your poem to him.

Comfort and support from me to you and your family.

I'm sure there are many people here who could write a piece of prose. But something as personal as your grandfather's passing has to come from YOUR heart. Only you can know your relationship with your grandfather. How meaningful could a poem from complete strangers be? You can do it. Use your love and all the wonderful, beautiful, sad & happy memories and put it in your own words. Keep in mind... poetry verse DOES NOT have to rhyme... it simply needs to flow. I prefer free verse myself. I've found that interrupting the thought process to find rhyming words takes away from the quality and meaning of what I'm trying to write. Describe visits, memories, fun times. If you had to travel to visit, or his house and surroundings had special meaning, put that in your poem. Describe places you went together, and how he made you smile, things you did with family gatherings. I could write something beautiful if I was inside your head with memories of your grandfather... and so can you.

My deepest sympathies on the passing of your grandfather. Keep the happy memories always, and he'll be with you.

Hey Grandpa it’s me again just writing to say hello

I know your up in heaven shining your light on us below

I know you left and I miss you a lot

But I have given things a lot of thought

I love you so much and the love is real

But I know wherever you are, you are feeling ideal,

I’m sorry we tried to keep you here

I feel so selfish we just wanted to hold you dear.

I now set you free grandpa with no regrets

Because now I know, I know you loved me so

And now I see that you'll always be with me

So grandpa I’ll see you soon and that day when I do...

It’ll no longer be alone but I’ll finally be with you

I know you’re with me everyday

And I know you’re taking care of me every step of the way

I still know you’re proud of me where ever you may be

And I want you to know I try to make you proud as you can see

I love you so much and I miss you so dear

But grandpa don’t worry because I know you’re always here....

*I love you and miss you every day (to my grandpa Bill and grandpa Doug)

My love is soaring for you everyday.........

NOTHING?

Death! A mournful blackness?

A bright beginning?

Who knows death and all it’s bringing.

Sleep eternal, everlasting? Nothing, memory lost?

Who knows death and what it cost.

Stand beside a lonely grave,

A shell? A soul? A heart?

Who knows where the spirit goes, when breath and life depart.

Left to wander all alone?

Or met at heavens gate?

No one returns to let us know, life’s eternal fate.

sorry for your loss, I wrote this for you just now, god bless.

To him that lived from way before me,one i believed to be the sweetest part of my life, his grey headedness always a crown of beauty and a fountain of wisdom with a wise answer to all of life 's searching questions. when his flesh is fresher than in youth, when his youthful vigor is restored and when his life will be to time indefinite,i hope to see you again, dearest grandpa.

hey hope you build on this, sorry for your loss,i believe in the ressurrection ,hope you do to for then you will see your grandpa in the near future.poem inspired by bible scriptures
