This woman and I have been friends for 5-6 years. There always seemed to be subtle signs of a mutual interest, but things have begun to pick up in the past couple months and those once subtle signs appear to be anything but. I sent her a gift on a random day not too terribly long ago and she responded by saying, "I have the biggest grin on my face," "I can't believe you remembered," "You're so sweet," "This goes to show how well you really know me" and "I was smiling and laughing so much, I almost cried." Neither one of us has really come forward with our feelings officially, although judging by both our words and actions, I would think it's safe to say we're both cognizant of the mutual feelings. I wrote a poem a few days ago and intended on sending it to her on Valentine's Day, but am tentative on the matter and wanted to hear what other people thought. Thus far, everyone to whom I've sent this has given me positive feedback and for the most part, believes I should send it, yet I've received rather contradictory responses from some, whom believe that while she will probably like it, it also has the potential to backfire.
Here's the poem (...and just for the record, the word "Nerdy" was placed in there as part of an inside joke. I can't tell you how often she refers to herself as such):
H appiness emanates from my core,
A rdent in feeling,
P ossessive of exquisite beauties you are,
P lentiful traits worthy of admiration,
Y ou behold,
V ersatile,
A lluring,
L ight-hearted,
E ndearing,

T antalizing,
I llustrious,
N imble,
E ffervescent,
S cintillating,
D iligent in providing you with smiles and laughter,
A rdent in bringing you joy,
Y our happiness emanates from my core.
