(hmmm.. sounds like a bad rapper)

Im from Jamaica and I have read a few poems of frost in workshops.... the popular ones. I have also had to do excersises to write in the same meter, form and rhetorical structure... its tough for something that seems so easy and effortless when read!

I love Frost, the rhymes are so natural the cadance of the poem always sets an excellent tone and his work is what i aspire to, being able to comment on the times, while maintaining a personal and honest emotional stream of consciousness throught the poem. His use of nature imitating (is that the right word) man makes the action of the poem not just important but inevitable... a sort of 'it is so'

I visitied his little farm in vermont, and heard for myself that stillness in the woods (if only with a mental ear) Just repeating the mantra of "and miles to go before I sleep" transports me to that stillness.

To me, Frost was one of the great poets of America. His Derry farm, where many of his best works were done, was also a great inspiration for many of his poems. I went to high school next to his high school. I also used to walk home on some of the same roads that he walked on. I used to live in what was his south pasture, and my children went to Pinkerton Academy where he taught. If you could tour his farmhouse and grounds, you would almost feel like you were walking on hallowed ground because you can see where many of his poems were written and visualize the scenes in his poems.

Some people feel that he is just a nature poet, but you need to look much deeper into his works to see his meanings.

ps. One of the oldest town residents (who has now passed away) when asked about Frost, said he was a lousy farmer.

I would be glad to answer any questions you have if you want to email me.

I think Robert Frost is wonderful. He has great talent and easily expresses things like nature and the daily thoughts on life.

My mom has a great story about Robert Frost that's 100% true.

When she was a kid he visited her school for a reading and book signing. She didn't have enough money to buy his book and didn't own any of his other books. So she still wanted to get his signature, so she brings up one of her school books. He refuses to sign it and tells her if she can't recite an entire poem of his she's has no business asking for his autograph.

What a great way to humiliate a kid. Just goes to prove great poets can be F*in jerks!

I'm not sure where that story will fit into your presentation. lol

I liked how Frost used his personal and historical experinces as inspirations to incorporate into his poem. I think Home Burial is great dipiction of loss of a child which happened to him and his wife. Mending Wall is another interesting poem that was written during the cold war. Just use my avatar as a reference thanks.

Though his poems are simple, they always carry 2 voices. Confusion of a man is well-expressed by him.
