My son was a month early, I planned on getting his birth announcements in order during the month he was supposed to still be cooking. Now time has flown by and he is 4 months old. I still want to send announcements but with a little acknowledgment as to why they were late...Here's what I have come up with. Please let me know what you think...

Feel free to change the wording or order of verses...edit, add to or delete a verse if you don't like it:

We planned for his due date,
but the little guy just couldn't wait...

It's not that we have been lazy...
But life with a newborn is crazy!

So we're catching up on sleep,
And there's been house to keep...

We thought we'd have more time!

The baby arrived early,
The announcements arrived late...

Now without further adieu,
we introduce to you...

The child we welcomed with joy,
Our precious little boy!

I would delete the verses ( from the end ! )

3-4-5-6

The remaining is not a great poem, but is fresh, sincere, touching.
