Question:
Would you comment on this re-post, for Warren D. & Robert Harrison, about Physics?

A Spacey Time Pome
by C.S.Scotkin

Dr. Albert Einstein said
Ride a light beam in your head.
Something strange will happen.

(You might want flight insurance!)

Are you up and belted in?
It would be a real sin
To fall, upon the blast-off!

(You see what I mean about flight insurance!)

Now at cosmos’ great speed limit
Whoa! Hold on! Now wait a minute!
Something strange does happen.

(I don’t think I can get my money back!)

When you see me coming through
What you see is very blue
When you see me go I’m red.

(Don’t blame me, talk to Edwin Hubble!)

This little fact, it fills my head
Not without a little dread
I return, you may be dead.

(…wait, just a thought experiment!)
( whew!)

Too funny! You write a poem in which you are metaphorically free from gravity's pull and you get technobabble from the men. Where is their poetic spirit? Where is their understanding of metaphor and imagery? Good comeback--a bit of science on your part. Good poetic expression as well.

I think my comment (which was really tongue in cheek, but I don't talk very well that way) had to do with the infinite nature of the influence of gravitation. While the gravitational pull of a distant star technically reaches us on earth its influence is inconsequential.

I am always fascinated by the way things are balanced in the universe. We speak of an "escape velocity" in space travel, when there really is no such thing. It is simply a velocity which allows us to leave a captive orbit and move along to our neighboring planets.

You are now moving us into another realm, that of relativity. Believe it or not, I do have a very romantic spirit, and I get your messages about freedom and movement. The interjection of a little physics makes it even more fun.

Thank you for acknowledging my existence. There are times I wonder if it is real. (Not here and not now, though.)

By the way, nice poem.

I thought you might find this interesting.

At first I read Physics as Psychics, LOL, and after reading the poetry, I thought here is another confusing poem. How is that about Psychics? I've had enough for one day!

Then, I thought I would follow Miss Stylish and just say, "Nice" and move on. But I'm so analytical I couldn't let it go.

Then I really had a big laugh and can honestly say, "Nice!" I like it.

Edit: Thumbs up for Miss Stylish and a star for the Poet.

Well my dear little cosmonaut that will teach us to keep our mouths shut, well mine anyhow. I think that I will stick to my "Light the blue paper" box of Sky Rockets.

To ride a light beam in your head

May fill your heart with fear and dread.

But trouble not your soul, my dear.

You'll find me waiting for you here.
