We fought along Washington at the birth of a nation
We fought for states rights and the slaves emancipation
We ran and died where none would ever know our name
We did it for freedom, not money or fame
We we’re cut down before we could run
Jumping out of the trenches in World War One
The world called again when we did it for you
When we died for freedom in World War Two
We jump out of airplanes without a second thought
Ordinary men become heroes where they stood and fought
We each have a different story, background, and race
Doing our duty that is our place
Some of us flew in cramped airplanes
Some of use can never tell of our real names
We dived to the waters cold dark depths
We marched under fire straight to our deaths
We fought and died in horses of steel
We fought without water and without any meals
Please don’t let our story go untold
Let the people know what freedom our flag truly holds
We gave our lives for yours jumping into the fray
Remember us every Veterans Day
